The Institute of Integrative Nutrition
Health counseling is it, folks. It has become crystal clear to me that Integrative Nutrition is the solution to the current healthcare crisis.
Michael Pollan recently reported in the New York Times that, “according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, three-quarters of health care spending now goes to treat ‘preventable chronic diseases.’ We’re spending $147 billion to treat obesity, $116 billion to treat diabetes, and hundreds of billions more to treat cardiovascular disease and the many types of cancer that have been linked to the so-called Western diet.”
The world is finally waking up to the importance of good nutrition and preventative health. New York City’s public health officials have just unveiled an ad campaign that shows globs of human fat gushing from a soda bottle, in their struggle against high-calorie beverages. Michelle Obama has planted an organic garden at the White House and is working to set up a farmer’s market near the White House.
People everywhere are seeking support with making lifestyle changes that will both improve their health and lower their doctors’ bills. That’s where you come in! Our work is in higher demand than ever before. As health counselors, we are equipped with the tools to help others to start eating healthy and making sustainable choices. Are you ready?
